a note from your photographer
I am thrilled you have considered me to capture this new chapter of your story. There is a lot to sort through when you start to wedding plan, so my hope is to make this as simple as possible.
Looking through collections, I have three tiers to help serve everyone’s needs. Don’t know which collection would be best for you? No problem! I am always ready to hop on a video call with potential clients who would like to work with CMP so we may chat about all things wedding-related. If you have any questions about what CMP Collection would be best for your day, I am happy to guide you in the right direction.
HOW TO PREP FOR
YOUR SESSION
How far are you willing to travel?
Most people choose the location they live in, but couple sessions can happen anywhere. I am always open to travel, and if you have always dreamed of your engagement session in the mountains or on the beach, I think you should pursue that.
Dive Deeper
Once you know the overall area you want your session to take place, then ask yourselves these questions:
What vibe are we looking for in our photos?
Where are our favorite spots in that area?
Do anybody we know have private property we could use?
On a free day together, where would we go and what would we do?
Any hobbies/activities we like to do together that might spark some ideas/locations?
Make a list of everything that comes to mind, and feel free to share it with me. You would be surprised what just a few minutes of thinking about the area where your session is, and what it has to offer can open for possible photo locations.
Can you help us find a location?
Yes of course! I always have my favorite places to go in the Raleigh and Triangle area that I would be happy to recommend to you if you need some guidance. If your shoot is out of town, I am happy to do some research and see what is available, but I always love to collaborate with my clients to make sure we have all options/ locations on the table.
do you want a morning or evening session?
This can depend on a couple of factors. If we plan a session in a popular location, a morning session can be the better option because we will not have to worry about crowds. Also, if you would rather have a session that is more private, morning sessions, are the perfect time to take them to avoid other people and make it just about your two.
If you want to have a session inside a space, our timing will be determined based on that location, and when the best natural light pours into the space
We will thoroughly discuss the best time for your session, and consider all the possible factors for the location we have chosen.
what if it rains?
When planning your session, we will talk about if having a backup date is possible. If my schedule allows it, we will make a backup date for our session ahead.
four key things to remember
Plan with Intention
Make a day that reflects you two as a couple.
Building a wedding can be overwhelming at times, but there is NO WRONG WAY to have a wedding. I have nothing against standard traditions, but if you want them at your wedding, make sure you know why. Because if you don’t know why you are doing it then maybe it shouldn’t take an important place on your day. Plan the day together, do things that will make you happy because it is the start of one of the best journeys you will ever go on together.
Be Open
Communication is key.
Just like any relationship, nobody in this process is a mind reader. If you have questions, ask them. If you need help brainstorming, reach out. The best way I can take care of you is if you keep me up to date with your planning. Involve me in the whole process, I am so happy to be part of it.
Dream Team of Vendors
Hire people you love.
Talk to them, ask them questions, and rely on their expertise. Bring them into your vision for the day and see which vendors have a natural passion to be a part of it. Finding those vendors who resonate with your vision will be the ones to make your whole wedding day the best. Treat them with kindness and trust them to be the experts they are. There is no better feeling than being able to enjoy the celebration because you know they can take care of the rest.
Don’t Forget
You and your BEST friend are getting married.
It seems like an obvious reminder, but getting caught up in all the details is a very real thing. Plan your little heart out beforehand, but the week of the wedding, start celebrating and focusing on the person you are promising your life to. Your wedding day will go super fast, and you don’t want to miss it because you were worrying about the centerpieces. You are marrying your person. That’s a big freakin deal!
