MARK & LEAH | HOMETOWN BACKYARD WEDDING | CHAPEL HILL, NC

Writing captions for weddings this year, never seem to do them justice. This year is a mess, in every sense of the word. Even the best-made plans had to be changed to meet new standards, and that is hard. If you have ever planned a wedding, imagine doing it twice in one year. Leah and Mark’s wedding was no exception. It was supposed to be with 200+ people, dancing the night away, yet 2020 had different plans. These two decided to keep others safe, and decided they would have it in Mark’s parents’ backyard and cut their guest list to their closest family and friends. It was going to look nothing like they thought, but Mark & Leah’s kindness and positivity were something I truly admired. I’ve never seen two people care for others in such a crazy situation when they had to handle a different curve ball every other day.

Their day shifted into a simple, beautiful, and intimate backyard wedding. Leah and Mark got ready by themselves to keep others safe, we captured all their beautiful pictures together right before a thunderstorm hit, Leah’s parents walked her down the aisle in masks, and everybody who was there was so thrilled to witness these two high school sweethearts finally saying I do. It wasn’t the same as planned, but it was just as good, or even better. Leah & Mark are two of the best people I have had the chance to work with, and I am happy that August 15th will still be a day filled with happy memories when looking back years from now.
